I regret to inform the Holmwood community of the passing of Joan Tomlinson (batch of 1969-1973) on Thursday August 5, 2010. Joan leaves behind son Junior, daughter Monique, brothers and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
Joan was one of the kindest and most generous persons anyone could have the privilege of knowing. As a native of Christiana, she was like the sibling who stayed home while the others left but always there to welcome them home. She had a strong work ethic which she used to empower herself as well as to make a significant contribution to her community including the Percy Junior Hospital in Spanding.
She was a good mother, loving sister, loyal friend and a woman strong in her faith. Joan's physical presence will be especially missed by her batchmates of 69-73 but will live on in our hearts. Joan's funeral is scheduled for 8/21/10 at the Kingdom Hall, Ward Avenue in Mandeville. Further details maybe had by calling Marlene Bryson-Lennox at 561-327-4215. |

The Executive and members of the Holmwood Past Student's Association, Washington Metropolitan chapter, wishes to extend its deepest sympathy and condolences to Merva Crawford (1971), President of the Washington Chapter; Varis Clark (1973), Public Relations officer of the chapter; Donald Porter (1979) and their family during this time of sorrow. They are mourning the loss of their mother Cinderella Porter for whom a memorial service is planned.
It will be on June 5th at the New Mt Olivet Apostolic Church.

The following have been in partnership with Holmwood Technical High School through the Guidance Department, in enhancing the well-being of our students by providing much needed assistance to them.
On behalf of the selection committee of THE HOLMWOOD TECHNICAL-ROBERT LEWIS SCHOLARSHIP, thanks is being expressed to Mr. & Mrs. Rohan Pottinger, The UK Chapter, Mr. Paul Thomas (PTA President) and Mr. Fitzroy Reid for their substantial contribution to the fund. Barbara (Church Teachers' College), Mohan, Petal, and Marshalee (all at UWI) are this year's grateful recipients.
Thanks too to Mr. Martin Greaves, and Mr. Nigel Davy, who each year, continue to assist students (in the discipline they studied) with well needed back to school supplies,(the former) and tuition, lunch and fare allowances (the latter). The respective students are indeed very grateful for your help.

Noel -- for Alumni’s living in the area, how do they going about giving blood for you? For example, do they make reference to your name; your blood type; location of the blood bank, etc? I live in the region and know others close by which I’ll ask to support you. The problem might be the time that the blood bank is open is not convenient for some folks. Anyway, best of luck. I must take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all you brothers and sisters who called, e-mailed and prayed while I was in the hospital.I bounced back real fast and is now at home resting. God truly has been good to me. Foodie, remember we have a date, you won't be wriggling out of this one !!!!!!!!It was only the Sunday before I spoke at my brother's funeral and by the Friday I was in a situation.It i s was real heart-warming to get this tremedous support. God bless you all till we meet again. |
